Press Release from Marcher Lord Press

We here at MLP are very pleased to announce that Marc Schooley, author of The Dark Man, won the 2011 Carol Award (Speculative) from the American Christian Fiction Writers for his second book, Konig’s Fire.

ACFW made the annoucement on Saturday night, Sept. 24, at theACFW conference in September. MLP publisher and founder Jeff Gerke was present along with Marc at the awards ceremony.

“I was so thrilled and gratified to see Marc’s book win. This is Marc’s second book, and it seems like it’s taken awhile for people to begin to ‘get’ how he writes,” Jeff said. “But I think it’s brilliant, and it’s fantastic to see other people recognize this.”

You can watch the recorded video of the awards presentation here.

Last year, the Speculative category had six finalists, and four were MLP titles: Jill’sBy Darkness HidStarfire by Stuart Vaughn StocktonThe Word Reclaimed by Steve Rzasa and Eternity Falls by Kirk Outerbridge. Kirk’s novel took home the prize.

I also want to congratulate C.S. Lakin and Jim Rubart, the other two finalists in the Visionary category, because they are great people and great writers, and I know their chance will come again,” Jeff said. “We’re all united in this quest to expand the borders of Christian speculative fiction to the place where the map ends, and beyond.”
